A Brazilian Navy training ship, 'Cisne Branco,' hit a bridge in the Ecuadorian port of Guayaquil on Monday (October 18) in what was described by the Ecuadorian Navy as an accident.

The Ecuadorian Navy reported there were no causalities.

The masts of the Brazilian sailboat hit a tilting pedestrian bridge, over the Guayas River, without a tugboat being able to avoid the collision.

The Ecuadorian Navy said that the accident occurred "during the undocking maneuver," and one of its tugboats sank while trying to help the Cisne Branco.

They added that the sailboat "will be transferred again to the dock of the Yacht Club (of Guayaquil) for the pertinent technical review."
