A man has shared heartwarming video on TikTok of a local Turkish man caring for a stray cat, capturing the hearts of millions of viewers.

Travel content creator Derrick Nwanguma, 34, from Los Angeles, captured the video on 2nd August in front of Hagia Sophia, in Istanbul.

Currently travelling the world and sharing the trip with his 28,900 followers, Derrick uploaded the latest video captioning it "Tell me you’re in Turkey without saying you’re in Turkey".

The clip shows a man gently stroking a stray cat in the street with a brush, with the animal rolling around in glee.

“I personally don't know the gentleman, but I believed he worked in one of those restaurants on the street," Derrick told Jam Press.
 
“I don't know why he's stroking the cat either, but I read in the comments that the gentleman is telling the cat to leave in Turkish, but the cat wouldn't budge.

“My initial reaction was to laugh because I've never seen anything like this, not to mention this was just my second day in the country."

The clip racked up 7 million views and over 14,000 comments so far with TikTok users in love with the adorable cat.

Derrick said: “I've gone viral for many things but I never imagined going viral at this magnitude."

One person commented: “They spoil their cats like no other nations."
