IAF helicopters airlifted 21 people including 12 women, 03 aged men and 06 children who were stranded near Nagria, Pilibhit to a safer location.

Due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, 20 October, many areas were inundated as the water level increased.

With many villages being flooded, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out a rescue operation at Pilhibit, airlifting trapped villagers using a helicopter.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier on Tuesday, 19 October, issued a flood alert in Pilibhit and Lakhimpur Kheri as the water levels increased in the Sharda river.
