Netflix employees and transgender rights activists protested outside the company’s headquarters over transphobic comments made by comedian Dave Chappelle in California.

The streaming giant refused to remove the comedian’s special despite the backlash it received from the trans community, leading to a planned walkout on Wednesday.

Video shows demonstrators holding up picket signs and rainbow flags while chanting ‘Trans lives matter’ outside the Netflix office.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had earlier received flak for defending Chappelle’s special, The Closer, saying he did not believe it incited violence against the transgender community.

He said: ‘We have a strong belief that content on screen doesn’t translate to real-world harm.’

Meanwhile, protesters presented Sarandos with a list of demands to heighten trans visibility and content on the streaming platform.
