President Cyril Ramaphosa campaigned in Cape Town today as local government elections loom on November 1. Ramaphosa started in Mamre, followed by Atlantis, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha and then ended the day in Rylands.

Ramaphosa claimed the ruling ANC (African National Congress) was on a path of renewal and is dealing with corruption decisively by weeding out corrupt members within its ranks.

Cape Town and the Western Cape is a stronghold of the official opposition, the Democratic Alliance (DA). Both the Cape Town metro and the Western Cape province is under the political control of the DA. The ANC controls eight out South Africa’s nine provinces.
