A landslide triggered by heavy rains trapped motorists in a hillside in the Philippines.

Video taken by rescue group Cs’One Tingcang shows mud covering several vehicles which were driving along a highway in Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur on October 20.

The local disaster management office reported that at least 10 passengers were hurt after they were hit by the raging mud and debris which fell from the adjacent hillside and left the road impassable. Authorities said the path has since been cleared.

Meanwhile, the trapped victims were sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
