Hundreds attended the funeral procession of murdered Kenyan athlete Agnes Tirop on October 22.

The procession was held in Tirop's hometown Iten where hundreds of fellow athletes marched through the streets with banners calling for the end of gender-based violence.

Kenya athletics have condemned gender-based violence during the burial of the long-distance Kenyan runner Agnes Tirop who was allegedly murdered by her husband on October 13 in her home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet. Hundreds of athletes marched the streets with banners calling for the end of gender-based violence, accompanying the body of the deceased in a procession to the funeral. Tirop was found dead in her home with several stab wounds in the abdomen. Her husband is in custody as the prime suspect of her death.
