Little Amal, the refugee puppet, was paraded through the streets of central London, on Saturday (October 23) as it entered the final stretch of its 8,000-kilometre journey.

The 3.5-metre-tall marionette was seen walking through a crowd of hundreds on its way to St Paul's and knocking on the Great West Door, the ceremonial entrance to the cathedral.

Little Amal represents a Syrian refugee and has been carried through Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium.

St Paul's Cathedral's official Twitter feed tweeted: "It was a true pleasure to welcome #LittleAmal to St Paul's this morning. Our Dean, many faith leaders and other guests were there to welcome, joined by hundreds of children from across London singing 'Consider Yourself' from the musical 'Oliver!' and even a brass band!"
