Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire might not be as green as we’ve been led to believe
The Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire has come under pressure recently as new studies show that the power station is nowhere near as Green or clean as the British public were led to believe. The recent studies were released by Ember which found Drax Power Station to be one of the largest polluters in the UK.
Officials from Drax Power Station have said they do not agree with the findings of Embers studies.
Drax Power Station is the largest power station in the UK. It currently produces 12% of the UKs energy needs. It has decarbonised from fossil fuels to now burning green biomass.
The change to biomass was designed to make the energy produced at Drax greener and cleaner. However the reality is different and Drax is now the third largest emissions producing power station in Europe.
