An aggressive dog was rescued after it fell into a 10-metre-deep well in Bukittinggi, Indonesia.

The Indonesian Red Cross Animal Rescue Team was called to the scene after locals had spotted the canine in the deep pit.

Nori was lowered down into the well and attempted to grab the dog but the animal was resisting.

"The team had to tie up the dog's body, then pull it into a sack," Nori said.

The dog was eventually hauled up to the surface where it was then set free.

Dog fell into a well of a local resident in Indonesia. People find it difficult to evacuate the animal as it is vicious and tries to attack men who want to save it.

The Indonesian Red Cross Animal Rescue Team (PMI) is called to help. Rescuers reached a depth of 10 meters, found the dog was hiding in the passage in the wall of the well.

Nori, the rescuer, said he tried to grab the dog's shoulder, but the aggressive dog attacked his arm.

"Team had to tie up the dog's body, then pull it into a sack on the water surface to pull it up together," Nori said.

According to local residents, the male dog is believed to have been trapped in the well since Friday night, when several dogs were heard fighting around the well.

"In the morning there is sound of a dog in the well. The dog was scratching the wall trying to climb up. Someone wanted to help using the ladder but the dog was angry, so then he reported to rescuer," said Syarif, a local resident.

After this incident, residents repaired the damaged well cover, so that no more animals would fall into the well.
