A mouse was seen shaking in fear while hiding from a cat in Indonesia.

The rodent was searching for food inside the house when the owner's pet feline sensed the intruder in Padang City, West Sumatra province.

The mouse scampered to a corner at the back of containers where it was spotted doing its best to stay still despite being terrified of the cat, which sniffed for it around the room.

House owner Febliana Nadia saw the frightened but clever rat and began recording the amusing incident with her camera.

She said: 'The rat was shaking. It was being chased around the living room until it found the corner to hide in. It was scared but very clever.'

The mouse was eventually caught and bitten by the cat. However, the smart rodent managed to escape again and ran to the back of the house.

Febliana added: 'I think the rat learned its lesson now and would not return to our house again. Pet cats are reliable in dealing with animal problems.'
