Shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery sank in 1944 with 1400 tons of explosives still onboard 1.5 miles north of Sheerness in Kent.

Briggs Marine have been awarded a £4.6 million contract by the UK Gov (source: bidstats.uk) to cut off the masts to reduce strain on the ageing vessel.

Briggs survey vessel Thames Guardian was seen surveying the shipwreck at low water this morning (October 25), with mast cutting expected to take place in 2022.
