This is the moment a group of Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, renowned for being the world's most expensive fish, launched themselves into the air off the coast of St Ives.

Peter Nason, 37, was volunteering at St Ives National Coastwatch Institution when he captured amazing footage of the tuna diving out of the water.

In the video the fish can be seen appearing out of the water one after the other, putting on quite a spectacle for the onlooking crowd.

The fish are known for more than just their acrobatics as their high market value means they can sell for thousands – and even millions – of pounds.

Their extortionate price tag makes the bluefin the most valuable fish in the world but also means they've been categorised as an endangered species.

So much so, that it is illegal to catch them in the UK, and if they are caught by accident, they must be immediately returned to the sea.

The footage was filmed on October 23.
