Tribes celebrate harvest festival dancing and playing musical instruments in South India
Location: Gudalur area Nilgiris district of Tamilnadu State in South India.
5 groups of tribes live in Gudalur a hilly area of Nilgris district. Their livelihood is farming. A harvest festival is celebrated in their community. It is a thanks giving festival to the Mother earth, Nature, Wild animals etc as they yielded a good harvest for the farmers.
The crops are harvested and a dish made from the first harvest rice is offered to three gods.
During that offering a musical instrument is played with drums and women from the community dance for thr beats.
Due to the corona lock down and the restrictions the festival is celebrated in less grand manner says the community s
