A pair of Yellow-billed Spoonbills (Platalea flavipes) have used their nest in a large Tuart tree (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) for years. This time they raised one chick that was nearly fledged at the time of recording this video. One of the parents perched on a large branch near the nest and preened its feathers, while the curious chick in the nest with its other parent stared over the rim and yawned. Both parents then left to feed along the bank of the nearby Serpentine River, leaving the large chick alone in the nest preening.
