Crewman aboard a UK rescue ship films terrifying encounter with colossal 22-metre waves
A member of a crew onboard a rescue ship around the British isles filmed the terrifying moment they encountered 22-metre waves.
Grahame Hately was working on an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) 100 miles North East of Shetland when the monster sets rolled in.
Dramatic footage taken from the bridge of the ship in April shows mountains of water cresting around the vessel and tossing it from side to side.
"Very rare for all the waves to be coming from the same direction," said Hately.
"These are not the largest waves I've filmed but were the largest on the planet at the time of filming," he said.
