This is the heartwarming moment residents sang together after pandemic restrictions forced them to stay at home in Gansu province.

Footage shows the cooped up locals singing the Chinese songs ‘Me and My Motherland’ and ‘Singing Motherland’ from their apartments in Dangchang County, Longnan City on October 25.

Miss Wang who shot the video said the homeowners association in the neighbourhood proposed for everyone to sing in chorus on their balconies to lift people’s spirits. The singing lasted for about half an hour.

Miss Wang said: ‘It was quite interesting at first, but my eyes teared up as I sang. I hope the pandemic would end soon.’

Communities in Gansu province have been divided into three categories, with each category having different travel restrictions, depending on the provincial health committee’s Covid-19 risk assessment.

Gansu has so far confirmed 55 cases of coronavirus infections in the province from October 18 to October 27, authorities said.
