Salisbury train crash: Video shows carriage at 45-degree angle
Video shows one of the train carriages involved in the crash near Salisbury, UK at a 45 degree angle.
A major incident was declared on Sunday evening (October 31) after two trains collided in Salisbury in the south of England. Around a dozen people are reported to have been injured.
Video shows first responders at the scene and the two trains at Fisherton Tunnel. On the left is the upright Great Western Railway service (headlights flashing), which had partially derailed. On the right of the picture is one of the carriages of the South Western Railway train that itself derailed after colliding with the GWR train. The South Western Railway carriage is seen at a 45-degree angle.
British Transport Police tweeted on Sunday night: “We are currently responding to an incident at Fisherton Tunnel, Salisbury. Officers were called at 6.46pm this evening following reports a train derailed. We are on scene alongside paramedics and the fire brigade.”
Great Western Railway and South Western Railway both tweeted the same statement, saying the incident involved the 1708 GWR service between Portsmouth Harbour and Bristol Temple Meads and the 1720 SWR service from London Waterloo to Honiton, in Devon.
