Basketball players fled as a crane smashed through the roof and onto a court in northern China.

Video filmed in the city of Dalian in Liaoning Province on October 28 shows a cane suddenly smashing into a basketball court, sending smoke into the air.

Players on the court were seen running away quickly.

According to the court manager Mr Wang, three basketball coaches suffered serious injuries and several other people had minor injuries. But none of them are in life-threatening condition.

The crane reportedly lost control and slid down a slope into the court.

The damage caused was around 1,500,000 yuan (£172,000).

据了解，受伤的3名教练并非篮球馆的员工，而是一家少儿篮球培训班的教练，他们和对方是长期合作伙伴的关系。好在当天并不是孩子们上培训课的时间，不然后果更加不堪设想。目前，施工方已经垫付了部分医药费，但关于球馆的赔偿事宜还没有协商一致。事故造成球馆外墙大面积受损，而被破坏更加严重的则是地板，初步估算球馆损失在150万元左右。
11月1日，大连住建局回应，事故系老旧小区改造施工导致，事件仍调查中。（视频由辽宁台提供）
