Minority parties in the western cape disrupted the final briefing of the 2021 Local Government elections in the Western Cape. Provincial chief Electoral Officer Michale Hendrickse was concluding his press briefing when members of the Democratic Independents and National Freedom Party disrupted him with screaming and slogans.

They claim the IEC and the Independent Communication Authority of South Africa ( ICASA) treated them unfairly in the run up and during the elections.

Anwar Adams from the Democratic Independents alleges that the IEC is influenced by the ruling party in the Western Cape, the Democratic Alliance.

Soon after he was joined outside the Regional Operations Centre by community members, Vanessa Adriaanse an activist questioned the awareness of the IEC to the plight of impoverished communities across the Cape Flats.

The IEC Chief electoral officer in the western cape addressed the media soon after the chaos ensued
