A kind-hearted man adopted a disabled stray dog and customised a wheelchair for it in eastern China.

In the heartwarming video, filmed in the city of Shanghai on November 2, the dog named Ku Gua, or "bitter melon", is seen only able to walk with his two front legs.

Another clip shows Ku Gua's owner Mr Wang putting a wheelchair on it and then it ran fast and happily along the road.

According to reports, Wang spotted the disabled stray dog when he was travelling on his bike.

Since the dog was struggling to survive, Wang decided to adopt it.

Ku Gua gained weight from only around 5kg to over 15kg now and Wang also took the dog to travel with him.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
