Locals in Alpar, Maharashtra, drained a well after a tiger had plunged into it on November 8.

Footage shows the wild cat thrashing around in the watery pit as locals assessed how to rescue it.

A rescue team eventually drained the well and used ropes to help the tiger out from the pit.

A loud cheer was heard as locals celebrated the successful rescue operation.

Wildlife was having the best time while taking a tour of the human world until it fell inside a well filled with water in western India's Maharashtra on November 8. The incident took place in Alpar village in Warora forest range.

Visuals feature the hapless tiger struggling to stay afloat inside the well as it is full of water in broad daylight. The predator keeps paddling in the water to avoid drowning while a huge crowd gathers in the vicinity to behold the bizarre occurrence. Meanwhile, the animal seems frightful while the rescuers, along with the locals, rescue the poor creature with the help of a cot tied with several ropes to pull it towards the elevated surface.

The adult tiger strayed from its natural habitat in search of food and water when it fell inside the open well without a parapet wall installed in the field, leading to a horrific situation as the animal got stranded inside it, posing a threat to its life.

However, Warora range forest officer (RFO) MP Rathod rushed to the spot with his team including foresters Amol Neware, Kishor Deulkar, Nibuddhe, Ramteke, SD Watekar, and Ishwar Ladke, while volunteers of non-governmental organization (NGO) Eco-pro and the rapid response unit (RRU) team of Chandrapur forest division were alerted. Nevertheless, they rescued the mammal with the help of a wooden cot tied with ropes after a three and a half-hour-long rescue operation and pulled it to safety. Meanwhile, the feline jumped out of the well and sprinted into the forest cover.
