Willie Wagtails (Rhipidura leucophrys) are confiding little birds, and often nest in people’s back yards. Our friends in Wembley Downs in Western Australia have had a pair of Willies breed in their yard for several years, first nesting in the lemon tree, and now in this rustic chandelier in their gazebo. Willie Wagtail parents work hard, feeding their nestlings on a range of small invertebrates. In this video, the chicks are wriggling under their parent’s body, and then being fed a beetle larva (one nearly choking the chick) then a black Soldier Fly, family Stratiomyidae.
