Impatient driver smashes through level-crossing barrier in Thailand
This is the shocking moment an impatient driver broke through the train barrier at a level-crossing in Thailand.
Dashcam footage shows the vehicle waiting for the lights to change before slamming into the lowered barrier in Bangkok on October 27.
Two other motorists were seen also crossing the railroad even as the traffic light was still red and the train approached on the tracks.
Driver Patthawin Suppachottanawong, who recorded the worrying scene, said: ‘The driver could have waited a bit longer. Other than damaging public property, he was also risking his life.
‘It would have been a terrible crash if a train had hit his car. The driver would also have been traumatised. This was crazy.’
Anyone found guilty of ‘damaging, destroying, causing the depreciation of value or rendering useless the property used or possessed for public benefit’ faces jail for up to five years along with a fine of up to 10,000 Baht (300 USD).
