An elephant in Sri Lanka had enough of noisy vehicles on a road through its territory, when it attempted to chase several of them down.

The incident happened in Maduru Oya in the country's North Central Province on Wednesday November 10.

The giant jumbo appeared from the forest beside the road and sprinted towards the first moving vehicle. The panicked driver hit the gas and accelerated away just in time.

Soon after, the elephant chased after an auto-ricksaw (tuk-tuk) that, with its tiny engine, only barely manages to outpace the speedy creature.

Elephants in the region are known for straying off their natural corridors. Sometimes this results in conflict with humans, who are increasingly encroaching on their habitat, such as with heavy traffic on rural roads.

Wildlife was having the best time while looking for its potential meal until it wreaked havoc on the passers-by in Sri Lanka's North Central Province on November 10. The incident took place in Maduru Oya.

Visual features the elephant emerging on the road from the forest cover on the adjacent side of the lane in broad daylight. Upon spotting an onlooker's vehicle in its proximity, the jumbo sprints and excitedly begins to approach it. As the mammal breaks into a run and chases the transport, panic grips the driver, who accelerates the vehicle. After a while, the elephant chases after an auto while it speeds off the area to protect itself.

The elephants in the region are known for straying off their corridors. They appear on the roads passing through the greenery and often chase the vehicles passing by.
