Panjapa Chuangyam had been confined to pumping iron at home in order to maintain her ripped physique while gyms and outdoor public equipment were shuttered in Bangkok.

However, with falling cases for the last few weeks, gym bunnies like Panjapa can visit their favourite facilities again.

Footage shows the fitness fanatic attracting admiring glances while using the popular public gym apparatus at the Lumpini Park in central Bangkok on Tuesday, October 19.

Panjapa said: 'When Covid hit I was feeling a bit down as I spend most of my time in the gym. When the gym reopened it felt like the school reopened. Everything felt better.

'My goal for working out initially was to have a good body shape but now I’m a bodybuilder, so I have to take care of my body to be fit for the competition.'

Thailand closed public parks, where most locals exercise, earlier this year when Covid-19 cases surged. They were re-opened last month.

Bars and strip clubs are set to re-open on December 1.

Ministers hope to fully re-open the country to vaccinated travellers without quarantine in the coming months but economists have warned that it could still be another five years before the country’s tourism industry returns to pre-pandemic levels.

Two years ago tourism made up an estimated 21 per cent of Thailand’s GDP, generating 1.8 trillion baht in revenue. However, the country's National Economic and Social Development Council predicted that it could be another five years before similar numbers are seen.

Analysts said that between now and 2026, around seven million workers will continue to be affected by the economic harm from the Covid-19 pandemic.
