A creative dog groomer has gone viral on TikTok after showing off a goldendoodle which he transformed into a giraffe using pet-safe hair dye.

Gabriel Feitosa, 29, from California is known for his creative and unique grooms, which have turned dogs into giraffes and pandas - and even a goat into an angel.

He started the work when he was just 12-years-old, as he thought it was amazing that people made money working with dogs.

Gabriel asked a groomer for some lessons on how to create the perfect groom, and soon, he landed his first job at the salon.

As he developed his skills, he explored the creativity of grooming dogs and has recently gone viral on TikTok for his groom of the goldendoodle, named Cooper.

“The client literally asked, ‘can you make my dog into a giraffe?’ and I said yes,” Gabriel said.

“Firstly, I used a clipper to remove all of the hair we didn't need, but left the muzzle slightly longer.

“I also kept a little mohawk and furry paws.

“All designs are different, but in this case, I wanted his body hair short to carry the giraffe print.

“I started applying the pet-safe hair dye and used a brush to create a pattern on the body, as well as the hooves and mohawk.

“The dye has to sit for around 25 minutes before rinsing, so this was a great time to take him for a walk.

“We then bathed him and gave him a blow dry, as well as polishing off his haircut.

“Including breaks for Cooper to wee, drink water and even nap whilst we waited for the dye to sit, the process took four hours in total.”

Gabriel uses tools such as clippers, scissors, pet shampoo and pet-safe hair dye to create his looks and charges up to $600 per groom.

After sharing the process on TikTok, the pair racked up 29 million views and over 3.7 million likes.

One viewer wrote: “I would lose my mind if I saw that dog walking down the street. I love dogs and giraffes."

Another added: “Okay I have six dogs so what you’re saying is we can have a zoo??”

Another person commented: “It’s the hooves for me.”

“Very talented,” added someone else, followed by a clapping hand emoji.

Cooper’s owner shared his love for his dog’s new look by commenting: “That’s my dog, Cooper and I love him. He’s my best friend. I thought it would be fun and was honoured to be groomed by Gabriel!”

Due to his new social media fame, Cooper has now been recognised while out on his daily walks, where everyone wants to take pictures with him.

Gabriel finds his creative inspiration from emojis or something he might see on the street to fashion prints and video games.

He said: “All of a sudden, I look at something and think, ‘a dog would look so cute like this’ and the idea stays on my mind until I find an adventurous owner.

“I walk them through what kind of colour scheme they want and how transformative they expect the look to be and go from there.

“I have been on the US television show, ABC’s Pooch Perfect, before, which was a reality show about creative dog grooming, which was so fun.”

Gabriel has also transformed a fluffy poodle into a brightly coloured fish and a tiny Yorkshire terrier into a striking lion.

However, these creations aren’t available to all breeds and colours.

Gabriel added: “Breeds with dark or black hair are more challenging and light coloured, fluffy dogs are the best candidates.

“They also have to be a dog that is used to getting groomed, as anxious and nervous dogs should be limited to regular trims to reduce their time on the grooming table.

“Dogs kept me from growing up out of the streets and definitely prevented me from getting into trouble.

“It’s safe to say that dogs saved my life.”
