Stunning footage shows thousands of migrating wildebeest crossing a wide river in the Serengeti in Tanzania.

The clip was captured by Asha Wadher on October 12 this year.

"Scene from a massive wildebeest crossing at Lamai Wedge, Serengeti," Wadher said.

"This was my 10th crossing during a total of 8-day stay at this location," she added.

Wildebeest migrate through Tanzania and Kenya following the seasonal rains even when that involves passing through dangerous territory, such as crocodile-infested rivers.

'A sight to behold was caught on camera by Asha Wadher during her stay at Lamai Wedge, Serengeti.

The jaw-dropping footage shows thousands of wildebeests crossing the river in pursuit of greener pastures.
