A man has shared a simple hack for helping plants to thrive all year round – and all you need is some bath salt.

Amin Choudhury, 29, from London, came up with the top tip of using Epsom salts to spray onto plants after researching ways to stop his tomato and chilli plants from turning “yellow and curly."

He found that the issue is related to magnesium deficiency, but the organic farmer didn’t want to use pesticides.

While researching, he found evidence to suggest the use of Epsom salts on plants could help them thrive – and also get rid of insects.

He decided to try out the tip, mixing the salt – which is popularly used in baths to help reduce swelling and relax muscles – with water, using a ratio of one teaspoon of salt to one litre of water.

He then used a spray dispenser from B&M to spray the mixture directly onto his plants.

To his surprise, he quickly noticed incredible results in his plants.

“The result was amazing – all my plants were flourishing,” Choudhury said.

“Now I use Epsom salt for all types of plants, including my house plants. I found that simple hacks help with gardening, and products which don’t include chemicals are great for longstanding results.

“Epsom salt makes plants grow bushier, produce more flowers, increases chlorophyll production and deters pests such as slugs and voles.

“It also provides vital nutrients to supplement your regular fertiliser. I am always happy with the results [after using Epsom salt].”

Choudhury shared the unique tip with his 30,000 followers on TikTok, where the post was viewed more than 114,000 times and racked up 3,700 likes.

Gardening expert from MyJobQuote.co.uk, Samantha Jones, says: “As the video states, Epsom salt enhances the green colour and encourages flower blooming. It’s made up of hydrated magnesium sulfate which is important for healthy plant growth. It’s a great method to try!”
