Khanyisa is an orphaned albino elephant rescued in January 2020 from a poacher’s snare. She came to Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) and went through three months of rehabilitation for the horrific wounds caused by the snare. Since then, she has integrated into the Jabulani herd of rescued and orphaned elephants and spends her day out in the wilderness with them. In this video, Khanyisa can be seen playing with fellow young orphan, Timisa, who has become her closest friend.
