HERD Founder, Adine Roode, feeds orphaned elephant Khanyisa a bottle shortly after her rescue
Khanyisa is an orphaned albino elephant rescued in January 2020 from a poacher’s snare. This video was filmed not long after she came to Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD), while she was undergoing rehabilitation for the horrific wounds caused by the snare. As can be seen in the video, she had already formed a close bond with HERD founder, Adine Roode.
The green marks on her skin are from an antibiotic wound spray that was used to treat the severe lacerations caused by the snare,
