Woman creates 100-calorie version of Starbucks GINGERBREAD LATTE – and Instagram users love the health hack
A woman has recreated one of the most notoriously fattening Starbucks Christmas menu drinks for just a third of the calories – and Instagram users love the healthy hack.
While we all enjoy a festive snack or drink, they can often be full of sugar, with the Gingerbread Latte clocking in at 315 calories per serving – which is about the same as a medium bowl of fries.
Bec Hardgrave, a health and fitness coach from Brisbane, wanted to find a way to make one of her favourite drinks healthier.
While at her local Starbucks, the 25-year-old "hacked" her way into having a less calorific beverage by coming up with an alternative recipe for the brand's Gingerbread Latte.
It requires a bit of finesse but is super easy to recreate.
Bec orders a Grande Cold Brew with a dash of almond milk, as well as asking for one pump of gingerbread syrup, one pump of sugar-free vanilla syrup and spiced cream on top.
The recipe contains just 100 calories, less than a third of the original.
But did it taste the same as the traditional festive drink?
“It tastes so sweet and delicious and reminds me exactly of Christmas,” Bec, a health and fitness coach from Brisbane, told Jam Press.
“The spiced cream is my favourite part.”
The calorie-conscious woman shared the top tip on Instagram, where her post has racked up more than 1,100 likes so far.
One person commented: “Omg amazing!! Can you do more of these low cal Starbucks drinks.” [sic]
“Omg yes! My manager recently brought me a Starbucks voucher so trying this,” another user said.
Someone else added: “I need to get me to a Starbucks.”
“Yum,” agreed another viewer.
“I may need to try this one,” said someone else.
