An elephant got stuck briefly with its giant bum in the air as it tried to cross a high fence in southern India on 16 November.

Fortunately, the jumbo did eventually manage to get over the barrier in the Veeranahosahalli range of Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka. But not without an inelegant wriggle as its hind legs swung in the air and it used its front legs to pull its weight forward.

It is not clear if the fence was designed to stop elephants from crossing.

A jumbo's struggle came to the fore after it tried to climb over a fence in southern India's Karnataka on November 16. The incident took place in the Veeranahosahalli range of the Nagarhole National Park.

Visuals feature the elephant climbing up the fence amid the National Park. Initially, it places its forelegs over the boundary and attempts to pull itself up. After struggling for a while, its hind legs hang mid-air, following which it finally manages to cross over.

The elephant struggled to mount the fence due to its body weight. However, the mammal did not give up and finally managed to cross over after striving for a bit.
