Groups of visitors paying tributes to the war dead are seen next to the Cenotaph in London in the days following the Remembrance Sunday service at Whitehall. 'Cenotaph' means 'empty tomb'. There are no names inscribed on it. The Cenotaph symbolises the losses suffered during the WWI and it is dedicated to 'The Glorious Dead'. Now the war monument commemorates all those who have lost their lives since the First World War. Wreaths of red poppies have surrounded the Cenotaph since the National Remembrance Service on Sunday, 14 November. There is also a stripe of white flower wreaths amidst the red sea of flowers.
