Motorcycles carrying Covid-19 vaccines rode through a swollen river after heavy rain in Thailand.

The five riders were transporting storage boxes with the jabs inside as the powered through the water while rain raised river levels in Mae Hong Son province on November 13.

The vaccines were to be delivered to a remote village 90 kilometres away from town, with a travel time of five hours.

Just last month, a flood blocked roads and knocked down trees in the area, forcing paramedics to deliver the vaccines using motorcycles instead of cars.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and The Philippines are at the peak of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
