A McDonald's customer captured the moment live maggots were seen at a branch of the fast-food chain in Beckton, East London.

Video filmed on Thursday morning (November 18) at around 8:20am shows maggots on the restaurant floor and on a table at Gateway Retail Park, 8 Claps Gate Lane, E6.

"The manager’s trying to stop me taking pictures," says filmer Giles Jackson in the video. "[They're] all over the floor. They’re alive."

A female customer can be heard saying: "It came from the roof."

Jackson then adds: "It dropped on the lady’s food. I’m going to get a refund on this."

A McDonald's spokesperson told UK media: "Unfortunately, an incident occurred today at our restaurant in Beckton and we would like to apologise to any customers who were impacted.

"The restaurant was immediately closed, and a thorough investigation has found the root cause which has now been resolved."
