Impressive timelapse captures almost-total lunar eclipse from start to finish in China
This impressive timelapse shows the almost-total lunar eclipse as it was spotted in southern China on Friday (November 19).
The video filmed in Xiamen shows the stages of a lunar eclipse as the moon moves in the night sky.
The lunar eclipse was reported to begin at 3:18pm Beijing time and finished at 6:47pm, lasting for 3 hours and 29 minutes. The near total lunar eclipse coinciding with the full moon was the longest event of its kind for nearly 600 years, with skywatchers in the Americas and East Asia getting a particularly good view.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
