A man who had flown to Wisconsin from California stood on the steps of the Kenosha courthouse and declared "it's not about race" after jurors found teenager Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on charges connected to the fatal shooting of two people.

"It’s not about race," the man said on Friday (November 19) while holding a "Free Kyle" sign. "I didn’t listen to the media. That man was clearly defending himself. The prosecutor charged Rittenhouse to appease the mob."

Also on steps of the Kenosha courthouse, one activist had a very different view, complaining about the "application of law not being equal.

"I’m not concerned about an inanimate building or get insurance money for, that somebody can get insurance for. I want these people to organise, to change their laws and to protect themselves and not allow something like this to happen. MLK said the riots are the language of the unheard. We are in the same spot because we are still unheard."
