Workers rushed to clear brush and recover a red sedan that had fatally rolled over in Excelsior, Pennsylvania on the morning of November 22, around 7 am.

The driver was reportedly fatally ejected near state route 901.

Local officials who were on scene had no comment due to the accident being under investigation

Update: Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley said Tiffany A. Karchurka, 26, of Shamokin, was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m. Monday at the scene of the one-vehicle accident on Route 901 near Excelsior in Coal Township. Her cause of death is attributed to blunt force trauma to the neck, Kelley said.

Karchurka, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle on impact, police said.

Just after 0700 hrs on November 22, 2021 coal township fire department units were dispatched to the area of 1094 state route 901 for a reported MVA with ejection. As units responded they were advised the vehicle off the road and in the creek bed with of occupant outside unresponsive (possible class 4 (fatal)). Units arrived confirmed the victim went to God and shut down until a county official cleared the incident and the vehicle was recovered from the creek bed.
The local fire chief and Coal Township Police Officers who were on scene had no comment due to the accident being under investigation

The cause of death is being listed as blunt force trauma to the neck” Ms. Karchurka was thrown from her vehicle” the coroner’s office stated.
Coal Township Patrolman Cody Rebuck reported the woman was driving a red Chevrolet Cavalier along Route 901 in Excelsior around 7 a.m. The vehicle was located wedged between two concrete barriers that are part of the water drainage system underneath Route 901. The vehicle had “severe rear passenger side damage” “Karchurka, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle on impact” police said.

Based on the physical evidence at the scene, it appeared the driver was speeding before losing control on a right curve in the roadway. The vehicle went through the guard rail and hit the embankment on the side of the ditch, police said.
