This is the moment a brave wildebeest calf escaped a group of angry hippos in Kenya earlier this year.

Footage captured by Kalpana Balasubramanian in the Masai Mara in July shows the youngster skipping out of the way of the oncoming hippos and then crossing the river to join the rest of the herd.

The video was filmed during the annual wildebeest migration.

Filmed by Kalpana Balasubramanian, this video shows an epic scene from the Wildebeest Migration in Masai Mara, Kenya.

The said scene features a courageous gnu calf using its speed and mind to dodge a bloat of aggressive hippos.

"This is the story of a brave little Gnu calf that dared to face the threat and succeeded in escaping the mighty angry and charging hippos before crossing the Mara River alone and joining its herd," Kalpana wrote.

This gripping clip was shot on July 28, 2021.
