Quick-thinking boaters in central India saved a swamp deer from drowning in a lake in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday 25 November.

The deer is thought to have been swept out to water by a gushing stream it had gone to to drink, in Van Vihar National Park.

Visuals show the deer struggling to stay afloat, causing panic amongst onlookers.

They quickly get over their surprise and pull the deer towards their boat, securing ropes around the animal's horns, to hold the animal against the boat while they take it towards the shore.

The rescuers from the Water Sports Academy took a sigh of relief as they averted tragedy.

Wildlife was having the best time while quenching its thirst until it got trapped in a gushing stream of water in central India's Madhya Pradesh on November 25. The incident took place in Bhopal.

Visuals feature the deer struggling to stay afloat in the lake in broad daylight, leading to a bizarre scenario as panic ensues among the onlookers. However, the rescuers secure ropes around the horns of the animal and pull it towards the boat to rescue it safely. Following this, they manage to take the animal towards the shore by holding it against the motorboat.

The swamp deer strayed from the Van Vihar National Park to relieve its thirst, following which it got swept away with the water, posing a threat to its life. However, the rescuers from the Water Sports Academy rescued the deer and took a sigh of relief as a major tragedy was averted.
