A traffic policeman in Jakarta, Indonesia, was beaten and chased by Pancasila Youth members outside the House of Representatives building on Thursday 25 November.

The Pancasila Youth are a far-right paramilitary organisation, known for runing death squads for the Indonesian army during the Suharto dictatorship.

"It is true (a police officer was beaten)," said the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, to media.

According to Sambodo, the police officer who was injured was the Head of the Operations Section of the Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas, AKBP Dermawan Karosekali. He suffered a head injury in the attack.

A member of the traffic police (polantas) is suspected of being the victim of a beating by members of the Pancasila Youth (PP) community organization. The police officer was beaten while guarding the PP mass demonstration at the House of Representatives (DPR) building.

"It is true (a police officer was beaten)," said the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, to the media crew, Thursday (25/11).

According to Sambodo, the police officer who was injured was the Head of the Operations Section of the Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas AKBP Dermawan Karosekali. At the time of the incident, he was being chased by several PP organizations. In fact, Dermawan even rode a motorcycle to avoid being chased. The disgraceful action of the PP organizations caused Dermawan to suffer a head injury.

This incident was also conveyed by the Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Hengki Haryadi. According to him, his party has carried out maximum escort to the PP mass who are demonstrating. However, in reality, one of the police officers was ganged up and suffered a head injury
