This is the heroic moment a policeman saved a cat that was stuck in a car engine in Indonesia.

Adjunct Inspector Achyar Fauzi was directing traffic in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan province on November 22 when he heard a motorist calling for help in the middle of the road.

He said: ‘I was at the location to control traffic when I saw a female driver panicking and calling for help.’

The woman said she heard the sound of a kitten in the vehicle’s hood, and asked the officer to help her rescue it.

Achyar said: ‘I looked at the hood but only heard the kitten’s voice. After I looked again, I found it was under the engine, at the bottom.’

Video shows Achyar reaching for the trapped feline and pulling it out from a gap in the car’s front wheel.

He added: ‘We are grateful that the cat can be saved.’
