Storm Arwen has left thousands without power in Devon and Cornwall in southwest England.

Video filmed on Saturday (November 27) in Newquay in Cornwall shows damage from the storm and giant waves threatening a coastal property.

"Newquay town centre suffered much roof and signage damage as winds ripped through buildings," Newsflare's filmer said. The aquarium suffered roof damage, a Turkish takeaway had substantial signage ripped off [and] Porth Island in the distance was hit by mountainous seas." A car park was closed to the public.

Further footage shows a coastal property at Lewannick cove on the north Cornwall coast being battered by giant waves, with a Lewannick hotel seen in the distance.
