Rat snake rescued after getting head trapped inside lampost in eastern India
This rat snake had to be rescued by volunteer Ramakanta Kar after it had got its head trapped in a lampost.
Footage from November 21 shows Kar successfully pulling the serpent free in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
Subhendu Mallik, general secretary of Snake Helpline, said: "Snakes like to poke inside holes for many reasons. They may find prey hiding inside or a safe hiding place for themselves. The snake was non-venomous and Ramakanta could free it with his bare hands."
