Coastguard helicopter seen training with Sheerness Lifeboat off Kent, UK

Buy video

Sheerness Lifeboat station's new state-of-the-art Shannon class lifeboat called "Judith Copping Joyce" was seen training (believed to be for the first time) with a Coastguard helicopter yesterday morning (November 28), on a sunny day but bitterly cold day.

Footage shows the incredible skill of the volunteer lifeboat crew and Coastguard helicopter pilots - as the helicopter ends up hovering only metres above the all weather lifeboat - which is still moving at speed. This maneuver is essential for transferring casualties from the lifeboat to the helicopter in an emergency situation.
