Dog rescued after spending '6 years' trapped in cave living off villagers' scraps in China
Rescuers saved a dog who has been living in a deep cave for "six years" in southwestern China.
Video captured in the city of Qujing in Yunnan Province on November 28 shows a rescuer tied by a safety rope being lowered down into an around 50-metre-deep cave to save the canine.
The rescue work started on November 14 and lasted for 14 days. Since the dog ran into a small gap and no one could get in, the rescuers waited for the equipment to arrive on November 27 and then pulled the dog out of the cave in a cage.
The dog reportedly lived in the cage for six years and lived on the food that villagers threw into the cave.
The dog was successfully saved at 2 am on November 28 and he was adopted by a rescuer named Liu Wubin.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
