Property expert goes viral with top tips for keeping the house warm during winter
A property expert has revealed his top tips on how to keep your house nice and snug during the winter months.
Kyle Mattison, 29, from Portsmouth, UK, shared a popular TikTok video revealing his 10 “hacks” to help keep homes warm.
Kyle, who goes by That Property Guy on TikTok, suggests bleeding radiators, followed by using reflector foil to reflect heat back into the room.
He then advises using thermostatic valves, as they are the best way of getting heat into your home.
Tip number four is to programme your thermostat so you aren’t wasting heat throughout the day.
Kyle then advises shutting windows, curtains and blinds to help contain the warmth.
Next, he recommends moving any furniture away from radiators to stop them from absorbing heat.
Tip number seven is to self-install some insulation in the walls, as well as on pipes and in the loft.
Kyle, who also works as a marketing officer, next says to draught-proof windows and doors to stop cold air from coming in – which can also be self-installed.
He also advises getting a rug to keep your feet warm, especially if you have tile or wood floorboards.
Finally, Kyle says to turn your oven off but leave the door open after cooking to absorb any of the heat that is left.
As a bonus, he advises doubling up on your socks.
The viral video has been viewed nearly 1.4 million times and racked up over 90,000 likes and 500 comments.
