An employee at a car showroom in southern India survived a terrifying attack from a huge wild boar on Saturday (November 27).

CCTV footage captured at the business in Mangalore in Karnataka state shows the animal charge into the forecourt completely unprovoked and head straight for the member of staff who has his back turned to the boar.

He spots the rampaging beast just in time and manages to dodge out of the way between parked cars.

Moments later, the enraged boar flees the scene through the showroom's main gate.

Officials were surprised by the unusual behaviour of the animal which they said had likely emerged from a nearby forest.

“It had perhaps escaped a leopard attack and ran amok in panic,” said Range Forest Officer Prashant Pai.

Fortunately he was alerted by a colleague and could dodge the rampaging animal. The animal also left him alone and ran out as other people in the work ran to safety. Speaking to the media, Range Forest Officer Prashant Pai said the wild boar had come from a nearby forest. “It had perhaps escaped a leopard attack and ran amok in panic,” he said. As there are many leopards in the area he advised people to keep their pets safe.
