A terrified driver swerved when a loose wheel bounced towards oncoming cars on a highway in Taiwan.

Dascham footage recorded the wheel flying from one side of the busy road to the opposite lane on the first day of the National Day holiday in Yunlin on October 9.

Shocked driver Wang Nanyuan said it was only his quick reactions that saved him from being smashed in the head by the dangeorus hazard.

He said: In the morning, I was on the North-Taichung Road and was almost killed by the tire. I could have been on the evening news. At the very least my car would have been badly damaged.

‘This tire suddenly jumped from the southbound carriageway to north lane on the opposite side. Thankfully it did not hit me and no damage was done. It crashed into the side of the road and stopped.’
